The supreme happiness of life is that we are loved....Victor Hugo, 1862
Carve out time to talk....we are born with two ears and one mouth for a definitive reason...because we need ot listen twice as much as we speak. Tuning out distractions, including the television, is the first step.
The second step is to listen without interruption. Ofcourse, conversation is a two way street. Although we think our partners know us inside and out, they are not mind readers. If we want them to understand us we have to speak up and mean what we say. Choosing the right time to talk about important matters is also a skill to be cultivated. Bringing a sensitive tipic just before bedtime is hardly wise.
